Costa Mesa Skate Park seeks new sponsorship after Volcom bankruptcy

The Costa Mesa Parks and Community Services Commission meeting on March 13, 2025, highlighted the future of the Costa Mesa Skate Park amid the recent bankruptcy of Volcom, the brand that once held naming rights. Currently, there is no active relationship with Volcom, as their sponsorship period has expired.

Commissioners discussed the potential for new sponsorship opportunities to revitalize the park. One commissioner noted, “There are some other options out there that we're certainly gonna pursue,” indicating a proactive approach to securing funding and support for the facility.

In addition to the skate park discussions, the meeting touched on the intersection of art and community engagement. A commissioner recalled past initiatives, such as the Action Arts in the Park event, which encouraged local youth to express their creativity. Although a recent arts grant had just closed, the idea of collaborating with the arts commission to support local artists remains a priority.
