Project Savage Board honors employee support in military service with Patriot Award

The March 10, 2025, meeting of the Project Savage Board of Education highlighted a significant moment of recognition as Major David Brown presented the district with the prestigious Patriot Award. This honor acknowledges the unwavering support the district has provided to him and other service members during their deployments.

Major Brown, who leads the Alternative Learning Center, expressed his gratitude for the district's backing during his service with the 34th Infantry Red Bull Division in 2024. He emphasized the importance of community support for military families, stating, "Your actions speak as loudly as your words in supporting me." This sentiment was echoed by Nick Swaggart, a volunteer with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), who explained the organization's mission to recognize employers who support their service members.

During the presentation, Swaggart recognized three key individuals from the district—Michael Thomas, Dan Edwards, and Emily Herman—for their contributions to national security and their commitment to supporting employees in the National Guard and Reserve. He noted, "This award is not just for those people; it's for you all, for the people in the audience that really support those Guard and Reserve members."

The meeting underscored the district's commitment to honoring and supporting its military personnel, reinforcing the message that the community stands strong behind those who serve.
