Education took center stage at the recent Torrance City Council meeting, where Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Jeremy Gerson highlighted the success of the College and Career Fair hosted by the Torrance Unified School District. The event, sponsored by the Torrance Council of PTAs, showcased a diverse array of educational institutions, from major universities like UC Irvine and USC to smaller private colleges such as LMU and Whittier College.

Dr. Gerson, a former school board president and educator with 27 years of experience, emphasized the fair's role in empowering students to make informed decisions about their futures. "Events like these empower students to make informed decisions, whether they choose college, vocational training, or entering the workforce," he stated. The fair also featured various businesses, including those that assist with college essay writing and even language learning, such as Mandarin.

Notably, all branches of the military were represented, offering students the chance to pursue education while serving their country. Dr. Gerson expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunities available, particularly at the US Air Force table, reflecting his support for the Space Force.

The mayor pro tem underscored the importance of continuing to support programs that equip students with essential skills and knowledge.
