A proposed substance abuse treatment facility in Monroeville is facing significant parking challenges, as highlighted during the recent Zoning Hearing Board meeting. The facility, operated by Pyramid Healthcare, requires 96 parking spaces based on its design and existing lot development. However, the maximum number of spaces that can be developed on the site is only 64, raising concerns about adequate parking for staff and patients.
Jonathan Wolf, founder and chairman of Pyramid Healthcare, presented the facility's plans, emphasizing its role as one of the largest behavioral health providers in the United States, with 82 treatment facilities across eight states. He detailed the proposed conversion of a closed building at 279 Center Road into a residential substance abuse treatment center, which would include separate units for detoxification and rehabilitation for both men and women.

He also noted the potential economic impact, stating that the facility could create approximately 84 jobs in the area.
The board's decision on the parking issue will be crucial for the project's advancement, as the facility aims to address the growing need for substance abuse treatment in the community while navigating local zoning regulations.
