A proposed In-N-Out Burger location in Reno is set to enhance local traffic flow and parking options, according to discussions at the City of Reno Planning Commission meeting on March 5, 2025. The development plan includes three access points for vehicles, with a dedicated drive-thru queue designed to accommodate up to 42 cars, significantly more than the average queues seen at other locations in the area.
The site will feature 67 parking stalls, far exceeding the city’s requirement of 25, and will prioritize pedestrian and bicycle access, aligning with the city’s goals for a more bike-friendly environment. The design aims to optimize circulation within the parking lot, eliminating dead-end aisles and ensuring smooth traffic flow.
Commissioners raised concerns about potential traffic congestion, particularly regarding how queues might extend onto nearby streets. However, the applicant assured that their traffic analysis predicts a maximum queue of 30 vehicles, with operational strategies in place to manage peak times effectively. For instance, staff will be deployed to take orders outside when the drive-thru line reaches the menu board, which is expected to expedite service.
Public comments were minimal, with no virtual participants and no requests to speak from attendees. The commission is expected to review the proposal further, considering the potential impact on local traffic and community needs. The outcome of this development could significantly influence the area's dining options and traffic management strategies.
