Garden Grove leaders celebrate Women's History Month and community events

The City of Garden Grove City Council convened on March 11, 2025, to discuss various community initiatives and recognize local events. The meeting highlighted the council members' engagement with constituents and their commitment to community service.

The session began with Councilmember Yesenia sharing her recent experiences at community events, including the Santiago High School Community Resource Fun Fair. Yesenia also participated in Read Across America Week at Parkview Elementary, where she enjoyed reading to students and fostering a love for literacy.

Yesenia further reported on her visit to the Healthy Aging Center in Acacia, which provides essential medical and social services to seniors. She praised the center for its positive impact on families in Garden Grove, noting that it allows caregivers peace of mind while they work.

The council also celebrated the Northeast Garden Grove Little League's 70th anniversary, where Yesenia met with league officials and acknowledged the contributions of past leadership. She invited District 5 residents to her upcoming meet and greet on March 2, encouraging community participation.

Councilmember Housewoman addressed the council next, marking March as Women's History Month with a proclamation. She highlighted the significance of having a majority female council and commended the contributions of women in the city’s workforce. Housewoman also extended greetings for Ramadan and Lent, fostering inclusivity within the community.

Additionally, Housewoman announced the Buena Beautify Buena Clinton event scheduled for April 26, which aims to enhance community spaces through cleanup and maintenance efforts. She encouraged residents to participate and contribute to the beautification of their neighborhoods.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to recognizing local organizations, such as the Thomas House Shelter, which has served the community for nearly 40 years. The council expressed intentions to honor their contributions during their upcoming anniversary.
