In recognition of service, Private Maribel Galindo from Carl Howard High School was acknowledged for joining the Oklahoma National Guard as a human resource specialist. The district also celebrated Black History Month with assemblies and programs that highlighted the contributions of Black leaders, fostering a spirit of learning and reflection among students and staff.
A new partnership was announced between Midwest City High School's SAFE program and the National African American Jazz Legacy Museum, which was well-received by attendees. Additionally, Cindy Counts from the Medell Technology Center reported on the acquisition of adaptive technologies to support students in special populations, emphasizing the importance of these resources for academic and professional success.
Del City High School hosted the Oklahoma Association of Student Councils District 9 meeting, bringing together 13 schools. The meeting also noted the busy spring schedule for fine arts programs, with many students receiving recognition for their performances.
A proclamation was presented by Mayor Dukes and Councilman Rick Favors, declaring February 14, 2025, as Carl Howard Football State Champions Day in Midwest City. The meeting acknowledged Christo, a Del City High School student battling cystic fibrosis, whose heartfelt wish was fulfilled by Make A Wish Oklahoma.
The Del City Fire Department visited kindergarten classes at Epperly Heights Elementary, and National School Resource Officer Day was recognized, honoring the contributions of school resource officers. Megan Bridal, the Director of Counseling and Mental Health, discussed a collaboration with the Midwest City Police Department to address mental health needs in the school community through the new Scribe Intervention Response Team.
The meeting concluded with the introduction of Miles, a therapy dog from the Midwest City Police Department, who will visit schools to provide comfort and support. The district also celebrated Random Act of Kindness Day with donations to Parkview Elementary and provided community members the opportunity to experience the role of principal for a day, receiving positive feedback on the efforts of school staff.
Lastly, congratulations were extended to Dr. Daniel for achieving the title of associate technical fellow at Boeing, marking a significant accomplishment within the district.
