The spotlight was on Ed Scarro, who was unanimously appointed to the Milwaukee County Local Emergency Planning Committee. With over 30 years of experience in the environmental sector and a master's degree in civil and environmental engineering, Scarro expressed his commitment to enhancing safety protocols, particularly in managing hazardous materials. "I’m very interested in helping where I can," he stated, emphasizing his readiness to contribute to emergency preparedness efforts.

In addition, Clifton Phelps was appointed to the Milwaukee County Ethics Board for a term expiring in 2031. Phelps, who holds a master's in public policy and has extensive experience in business development, highlighted his eagerness to bring a fresh perspective to the board. "I’m kind of interested to hear these different cases and give advice based on sound, non-biased judgment," he remarked, underscoring the importance of integrity in local governance.

The meeting also addressed a request from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office regarding a three-year amendment to an agreement with Inmate Calling Solutions LLC for correctional communication services at the Milwaukee County Jail. This item was referred to the committee on finance for further action, indicating ongoing efforts to improve inmate communication and reintegration services.
