During the recent RHS Building Committee meeting, key discussions highlighted the innovative design elements aimed at transforming the educational landscape for students.
The proposed building will feature a versatile makerspace, designed to inspire creativity and collaboration. This space will include movable work tables, 3D printers, and laser cutters, allowing students to engage in various projects and experiments. "The hope is that this is really a creative building, a learning space where students can get dirty and create things," said a project representative, emphasizing the importance of a raw, adaptable environment.

The landscape architecture firm, Mikyunk Kim Design, presented plans for outdoor classrooms and performance spaces, which will serve multiple purposes—from casual hangouts to formal events like graduations.
The landscape design aims to complement the indoor learning experiences, featuring walking trails, learning gardens, and fitness zones. These outdoor areas will provide students with opportunities to connect with nature, engage in physical activities, and participate in gardening projects that tie into culinary education.
A notable highlight is the concept of a micro forest, where students can actively participate in planting trees, fostering a sense of ownership and connection to their environment. "If a student is here for four years, they can see the progression and growth of the natural world and say, 'Hey, I did that,'" explained Emmett Gregory, Project Manager with Mikyunk Kim Design.
