East Ramapo engages stakeholders for superintendent search and community input

The East Ramapo Central School District (ERCSD) Board of Education is actively engaging with the community to find a new superintendent, following a series of stakeholder input sessions held at Spring Valley and Ramapo High Schools. Over the past two days, board members, including Dr. Barbara Pinsack and interim superintendent Mr. DeCarlo, met with various community representatives, including union leaders, members of the NAACP, and local PTA members, to gather insights and feedback.

Dr. Pinsack emphasized the importance of these discussions, stating that they aim to compile a comprehensive report for the board. The input collected will guide the search for a qualified superintendent who can effectively serve the community and its students. An online survey is also available for those who could not attend the sessions, remaining open until March 15, allowing for broader community participation.

As the process moves forward, the consulting team will screen applicants and present their findings to the board and state monitors by March. This collaborative effort reflects the district's commitment to transparency and community involvement in selecting a leader who will meet the needs of students and families.

In addition to the superintendent search, the meeting included a presentation from external auditor Thomas Smith, who addressed concerns raised by board member Mr. Gruber regarding the district's financial status. The board and public expressed confusion over the current situation, highlighting the need for clarity and accountability as the district navigates these challenges.
