Roseburg completes waterline projects enhancing local infrastructure and flood resilience

The Roseburg Public Works Commission reported significant progress on key infrastructure projects during their meeting on February 13, 2025. Notably, the Stevens Waterline project, which began construction shortly after Thanksgiving, is advancing well. This project involves the installation of 2,700 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron waterline, starting at Sykes Avenue and terminating at Oak Street. Currently, the main section of the waterline has been completed up to Cass Street, with ongoing sanitary sewer improvements being made at Mosier and Cass.

The Stevens Waterline project is expected to continue for a couple more months as crews work on side street connections and water service installations. This initiative is crucial for enhancing the city's water infrastructure and ensuring reliable service for residents.

In addition, the 24-inch waterline project from Isabelle to Newton Creek has reached substantial completion. The project, which includes a new technology for rehabilitating existing pipes, has successfully lined a critical intertie section without disrupting the city's water supply. This innovative approach not only extends the lifespan of the existing ductile iron pipe but also avoids the need for extensive trenching, particularly under railroad tracks.

The commission also announced the commencement of the military storm project, which is expected to be completed within a month. Furthermore, plans are underway for the rehabilitation and replacement of outdoor tennis courts at Stewart Park, along with an extension construction project for Taxiway A at the local airport.
