UCPS completes migration to Infinite Campus ahead of June deadline

The Union County Public Schools Board of Education SPTT Committee convened on February 26, 2025, to discuss the ongoing transition from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus, a new student information system mandated by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). This meeting highlighted the progress made in the conversion process and outlined the next steps for staff, students, and parents.

The meeting began with an overview of the project plan, which includes 12 milestones. As of now, 10 of these milestones have been completed. The project manager reported that recent in-person training sessions for data managers were successful, allowing them to familiarize themselves with Infinite Campus and perform necessary data sanitization.

Looking ahead, the committee emphasized the importance of communication with parents and guardians. Plans are in place to provide information on how to create accounts, download the mobile app, and understand the implications of the new system. The project manager acknowledged the hard work of the team involved in the transition, noting that they have dedicated significant time to ensure a smooth conversion.

While parents and students will encounter a more robust platform, staff will face a significant adjustment as they adapt to the new software. The project team is developing sustainability documents and utilizing resources from NCDPI and Infinite Campus to support this transition.

The committee confirmed that the data migration from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus was completed successfully as of January 17, 2025. Future training sessions are scheduled for March 11, where school champions will learn to train their colleagues on navigating the new system and setting up grade books.
