Dana Point's Planning Commission made significant strides in addressing housing needs during their meeting on February 24, 2025, by approving two accessory dwelling unit (ADU) projects aimed at enhancing local residential options.
The commission unanimously approved Site Development Permit SDP24-0020 for a 946 square foot second story ADU and a 312 square foot addition to an existing single-family home at 26706 Calle Salida. This project, which will transform a nonconforming 1970s structure, is expected to improve the neighborhood's housing stock while complying with local zoning regulations. The proposed ADU will feature an open living area, kitchen, and bathroom, with access from a new deck and staircase. The addition will also include a new bedroom and bathroom, integrating seamlessly with the existing home.
