Speedway Schools celebrates academic achievements and diversity in latest report

During the recent Town Council meeting in Speedway, Indiana, the spotlight was on the impressive achievements of the Speedway School Corporation, as representatives highlighted the district's academic successes and ongoing commitment to education.

Assistant Superintendent John Disney, along with school board members, shared a proud reflection on the history and accomplishments of Speedway Schools, which began in 1928. The demographic breakdown shows a diverse student body, with 38% white, 29% black, and 22% Hispanic students. The free and reduced lunch rate has increased to 61%, and the multilingual population has risen to 41%, reflecting the community's changing dynamics.

Disney highlighted the importance of small class sizes, noting an average of 16.7 students per teacher in elementary grades, which he believes is crucial for student success. He credited the district's achievements to the dedication of teachers and support staff who strive to provide a high-quality education.
