In a vibrant display of student achievement, the Oklahoma State Legislature's Education Committee meeting on February 25, 2025, spotlighted exceptional students from Oklahoma City Public Schools. The committee chair opened the session by emphasizing the importance of recognizing educational accomplishments, inviting nominations for public school students and faculty to be honored at the Capitol.

Among the honored students were four remarkable individuals, each showcasing impressive academic records and aspirations. Amasha Samaruwira, a junior with a staggering 4.7 GPA, aims to become an industrial organizational psychologist. Senior Symone Burrows, with a 6.0 GPA and over 21 concurrent enrollment hours, has been accepted into more than 20 colleges but plans to stay in Oklahoma. Ariana Riverwolf, also a senior, is not only a cheer captain and homecoming queen but also aspires to attend an Ivy League university. Lastly, Tolo Woloshe Adarombe, a senior with a 4.4 GPA, is the president of the National Honor Society and plans to start her education at Oklahoma City Community College.

The chair praised the leadership of Dr. Polk, the principal of Oklahoma City Public Schools, for her dedication to fostering such talent. The meeting underscored the committee's commitment to education and the importance of celebrating student achievements, setting a positive tone for future discussions on educational initiatives in the state.
