The CCSD Board of Education convened on January 17, 2025, at 7:00 PM to discuss various updates and initiatives within the district. The meeting began with a public comment period, where a parent expressed a desire for cleaner air for students during their commutes to school.
Following the public comments, student representatives from Cornwall Elementary School, Willow Avenue School, COH, CCMS, and CHS presented reports highlighting recent activities and achievements.

Subscribe for Free Cornwall Elementary School reported a successful winter break, featuring a visit from the Hudson Highland Nature Museum, which engaged first graders with lessons on animal characteristics and habitats. The school also celebrated the success of the CES Grama Club's production of "The Lion King Junior," which included three performances. Additionally, students are preparing for upcoming New York State ELA testing simulations.
Willow Avenue School focused on kindness initiatives inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students participated in fundraising efforts to support veterans and engaged in various community service projects. The school is also preparing for a day of STEAM activities for fourth graders.
At COH, the character trait of integrity was emphasized, with students participating in a food drive for the Hudson Valley Food Bank. The school is also involved in a crayon recycling initiative to support children's hospitals. Students participated in a simulated computer-based math assessment to prepare for state testing.
CCMS highlighted the success of their winter concerts and the participation of students in computer-based testing simulations. The technology classes engaged students in building and racing CO2 cars, fostering skills in problem-solving and creativity.
Finally, CHS reported on a busy December and January, including a holiday caroling tour and community service drives. The school celebrated its track and field team for becoming division 2 champions and announced plans to improve parking lot congestion during morning drop-offs.
The meeting concluded with a sense of pride in the accomplishments of students and staff across the district, setting a positive tone for the remainder of the school year.
