Mayor Craig Ford of Gadsden City has announced the launch of "Operation Spring Cleaning," a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing the city's neighborhoods through coordinated efforts from multiple departments. This program brings together the public works, street, building, police, and fire departments to focus resources on specific areas in need of attention.
Residents are encouraged to utilize the Hey Gadsden app, available on both iPhone and Android, to report issues in their neighborhoods. The city plans to prioritize areas highlighted by residents through this app, ensuring that community concerns are addressed effectively. Mayor Ford emphasized the importance of maintaining the improvements made during these clean-up efforts, stating that the city will not only clean but also commit to ongoing maintenance.
The initiative has already seen success in Walnut Park, where street signs were replaced and curbs were cleaned. Mayor Ford reassured residents that the city is dedicated to keeping these areas well-maintained and urged them to communicate any ongoing issues.
Currently, the team is working in the Mill Village area, focusing on cleaning around the local ball field and addressing litter concerns. This proactive approach aims to foster a cleaner and more inviting environment for all Gadsden City residents.
