Georgia committee approves safe surrender boxes for infants to prevent abandonment

Supporters of the initiative shared compelling testimonies, including one representative who adopted a safe haven baby. They emphasized that since 2017, 55 babies have been saved through similar measures, underscoring the potential impact of the proposed boxes. The meeting also noted a concerning trend, with over 70 cases of infant abandonment reported nationwide last year, highlighting the urgent need for safe surrender options.
