The Grosse Ile Township Community Recreation Commission convened on February 6, 2025, to discuss various community initiatives and updates. The meeting began with a report from Commission member Keith, who shared that the Kiwanis Club conducted a survey among 550 flag subscribers. The results indicated a strong preference for displaying American flags year-round, with over 75% of respondents in favor. As a result, flags will be displayed from Armed Forces Day on May 17 through Veterans Day on November 11, with funds raised supporting local youth programs.
Marissa provided an update on the new resident welcome baskets, noting that deliveries were underway despite inclement weather. Over 20 local businesses and organizations participated in this initiative, which has been well-received by new residents. Marissa encouraged any new residents who had not yet received a basket to contact the recreation office.
