Spirit weeks, plays, poetry readings, and door decorating contests are also planned, with schools like Banks dedicating hallways to different themes in Black history, such as Civil Rights and Science.
The meeting also included a presentation on Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month by Dr. Amy Jones, who highlighted the district's commitment to preparing students for future careers. CTE programs serve over 2,000 students annually and cover 19 career pathways, with partnerships that enhance learning opportunities. Students shared their experiences, including job shadowing and participating in competitions, illustrating the real-world skills they are gaining through these programs.
The board meeting underscored the district's dedication to fostering a rich educational environment that honors cultural heritage while equipping students with essential skills for their future careers.
