Cumberland County reveals community health assessment findings with focus on mental health

Cumberland County is set to enhance its public health initiatives following the results of a comprehensive community health needs assessment presented during the Board of Commissioners Agenda Session on February 13, 2025. This assessment, conducted in collaboration with local hospital systems, is a crucial step for both the county's health department and the hospitals to meet accreditation and IRS requirements.

The assessment revealed significant insights into the health needs of the county's approximately 337,000 residents, highlighting mental health, substance use, and chronic diseases as top priorities.
