During the California State Assembly session on February 14, 2025, members took a moment to honor the memory of Kings County Fire Captain Mark Eads, who tragically passed away in the line of duty on February 1. Assemblymember Macedo led the adjournment in memory, highlighting Captain Eads' dedication to his community and his nearly 20 years of service with the Kings County Fire Department.

Captain Eads, who was 62 years old at the time of his passing, was remembered not only for his professional commitment but also for his vibrant personality and love for adventure. He enjoyed camping, boating, and spending time with family and friends. He was actively involved in organizing horseback rides across California as president of the Camorra Raiders and was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fresno.

Assemblymember Tongypa also spoke in remembrance, emphasizing Captain Eads' leadership and the impact he made in the Central Valley. He is survived by his wife, Robin, their two children, and a grandchild expected this spring. The Assembly members expressed their condolences and support for Captain Eads' family and the Kings County Fire Department during this difficult time.

In addition to the memorial, the session included a warm welcome for a delegation of youth leaders from the Mid Valley Family YMCA, who visited the state capital to learn about democracy and engage with their government. Assemblymember Gabriel praised these young individuals, expressing confidence in their potential to shape a better future for California.
