Garrett County Schools honors educators and students of the month

The Garrard County School Board convened on December 19, 2024, to recognize outstanding contributions from staff and students within the district. The meeting commenced with the acknowledgment of the "Staff Member of the Month," awarded to Tracy Edgington, a kindergarten instructional assistant at Paint Lick Elementary. Edgington was praised for her calm demeanor and unwavering support for students, both in the classroom and cafeteria. Her dedication and teamwork were highlighted by Miss Burton, who described her as dependable and always willing to help.

Following this, the board honored Rose Hay as the "Teacher of the Month." Hay, a second-grade teacher at Paint Lick Elementary, was recognized for her tireless efforts in supporting her students academically and advocating for their needs. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she actively participates in the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and serves as the cross-country coach, demonstrating her commitment to the school community.

The meeting also celebrated the "Students of the Month," starting with Harper Frankenberger, a first grader at CDR, who exemplifies the school's expectations through her integrity and perseverance. Caden Poole from Lancaster Elementary was also recognized, although he was not present at the meeting.

Luke Hall, a fourth grader at Paint Lick, received accolades for his kindness and hard work, while Henry Benoit, a sixth grader at Garrard Middle School, was commended for his positive attitude and dedication to academic success. Lastly, Trenton Eisen, a senior from Garrard High School, was acknowledged as the high school student of the month, with plans for his recognition to occur at a later date.

The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on the importance of community and support within the schools, celebrating the achievements of both staff and students.
