The presentation detailed several key programs administered by the Office of Broadband. Notably, the Broadband Opportunity Grant program has awarded 137 grants totaling over $36.3 million across 59 counties. Additionally, the Capital Projects Fund program has allocated over $249 million through 74 grants to enhance broadband infrastructure in 50 counties. Another initiative, the multipurpose community facility program, has provided $86 million in funding for 29 grants aimed at constructing facilities to improve internet access in underserved areas.

Garcia also discussed the Digital Connectivity Technology program, which has awarded $11 million in 15 grants to provide devices to communities lacking access. He emphasized the strategic involvement of state colleges and local workforce boards in distributing these funds effectively based on community needs.

As of now, the Office of Broadband has successfully deployed over 1,100 miles of fiber infrastructure and enabled 4,300 connections statewide. Looking ahead, Garcia announced the upcoming launch of the Digital Capacity Grant Program, which will offer $70 million to support digital literacy and programming in communities.

The meeting underscored the ongoing commitment of the Florida government to enhance broadband access and digital equity, with programs set to continue through 2026. The committee's discussions highlighted the importance of these initiatives in fostering economic development and improving quality of life for residents across the state.
