West Lafayette Intermediate student Felicia Xie publishes debut novel 'Hunter and the Wolf'

A remarkable achievement took center stage at the West Lafayette Com School Corporation's recent board meeting, as sixth grader Felicia Xie proudly shared her journey to becoming a published author. Felicia's book, "Hunter and the Wolf," is now available on Amazon, marking a significant milestone not only for her but also for the West Lafayette Intermediate School community.

Principal Margaret Psaros introduced Felicia, expressing immense pride in her accomplishment. "This is a first for me," Psaros said, highlighting the rarity of a student publishing a book. Felicia took the floor, recounting her writing journey that began in second grade with a simple assignment that sparked her creativity. She detailed how encouragement from her teachers fueled her passion for writing, leading to the publication of her 450-page novel.

Felicia's story resonated with board members, who praised her talent and dedication. "You are inspirational," one member remarked, encouraging her to share her experience with younger students to inspire them as well. Felicia expressed her desire to continue writing, stating, "I want to be an author when I grow up."

In addition to Felicia's inspiring presentation, the meeting also highlighted other school achievements, including a successful cultural night that celebrated diversity and a strong performance in the recent MathCounts competition, where West Lafayette students excelled against older peers. The board expressed enthusiasm for future initiatives, including expanding cultural events and fostering student creativity through new clubs.
