Collierville's Board of Mayor and Aldermen made significant strides in enhancing community services during their recent meeting on February 10, 2025. A key highlight was the approval of multiple budget amendments aimed at improving local infrastructure and emergency services.
Fire and Rescue received the green light to amend their budget to recognize a Tennessee Department of Health grant worth $144,750.44. This funding will be allocated for purchasing essential medical equipment for ambulances. Additionally, the department will utilize $3,100 in donations to acquire a replacement rescue boat, bolstering their emergency response capabilities.
Parks and Recreation also secured funding, with a budget amendment recognizing an insurance reimbursement of $166,151.79. This amount will be used to replace the flooring in Court Number 1 at the community center, which suffered significant water damage due to an accident involving a sprinkler head. The total cost for the new flooring is estimated at $141,674.01, with a projected insurance reimbursement of $157,637.23 to cover the expenses.
The library was not left behind, as they received approval for a budget amendment to recognize $7,007.60 in donations for various library needs. Furthermore, the court system will benefit from a $22,750 budget amendment for shelving at the Stan Joyner Municipal Annex.
