Urbandale City Council is set to enhance safety measures at the middle school by introducing a School Resource Officer (SRO) program, following a recent budget work session. The initiative, which will begin this fall, aims to address safety concerns raised by school officials and integrate police presence into the school environment.

The SRO program will operate under a cost-sharing agreement, with the Urbandale School District covering 75% of the officer's salary and the city contributing the remaining 25%.
