A moment of silence was observed at the Hendry County School District meeting on February 5, 2025, honoring the lives of two beloved educators, Phyllis Wilkinson and Carla Prevat.

Phyllis Wilkinson, who dedicated six years as a paraprofessional at Central Elementary School, was remembered for her care and compassion towards students. She passed away on January 22, 2025. Carla Prevat, who served the district for an impressive 30 years before retiring, also worked as a paraprofessional at Central Elementary. Known for her passion for teaching and her ever-present smile, she passed away just a week later on January 29, 2025.

The heartfelt tribute underscored the impact both women had on their students and the school community. Their legacies of dedication and kindness will be remembered by all who knew them.
