In a heartfelt testimony during the recent government meeting on February 2, 2025, Altadena evacuee Manuel Alvarado shared his harrowing experience of fleeing the Eaton Fire. Alvarado recounted the early morning evacuation, where loudspeakers and door knocks urged residents to leave as flames approached. “We lost everything, literally everything,” he said, reflecting on the devastation faced by his family after 50 years in their home.
Despite the loss, Alvarado expressed gratitude for the support from the community and organizations like FEMA and the Small Business Administration (SBA). He highlighted the overwhelming generosity of volunteers who provided food and supplies, stating, “It’s awesome… it’s overwhelming the generosity and compassion everyone has.”
