The St. Mary's County Alcohol Beverage Board convened on February 1, 2025, to discuss key updates, including a significant request for an extension from the Action Lounge. The board welcomed new members and reviewed the minutes from the previous meeting, which were approved unanimously.
The highlight of the meeting was the request from Jeannie Suit, co-owner of the Action Lounge, for a 90-day extension of their conditional approval. Suit explained that they are nearing completion, with final inspections expected soon. "We're almost 100% waiting for final inspections," she stated, expressing optimism about a potential opening date of October 28 for a soft launch, with November 1 as the latest target.
The board engaged with Suit about the specifics of their progress, including the installation of a new fire safety system and kitchen equipment. Suit confirmed that they are currently awaiting final inspections from health and fire departments, which have already conducted preliminary walkthroughs and provided positive feedback.
The Action Lounge is set to accommodate 178 patrons, as per the fire marshal's assessment, and plans to operate seven days a week from 11 AM to midnight. The board's decision on the extension request is anticipated to facilitate the establishment's timely opening, which is eagerly awaited by the community.
