High school seniors in West Bend are encouraged to apply for a variety of scholarships available through local families and organizations, with applications due by February 13th. Information about these opportunities can be found on the East and West high school websites.
Recently, the community celebrated the success of the holiday pops concert featuring the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, which was a sold-out event. This concert serves as a key fundraiser for local scholarships, highlighting the community's commitment to supporting students.
In addition to the concert, the student council organized a highly successful blood drive on December 12th, themed "Sink Your Teeth into Saving Lives." This event collected a record-breaking 351 pints of blood, surpassing previous totals and marking the largest collection ever for the Varsity Blood Center of Wisconsin. The drive also included 50 double red blood cell donations, exceeding the prior record of 35.
Special thanks were extended to Skip Clark, the blood drive coordinator, and the student council advisors for their efforts in making the event a success. Local businesses, including Chick-fil-A, Domino's Pizza, and Panera, contributed to the drive by providing donations and gift bags for donors.
For those who missed the pops concert, the community is invited to enjoy the upcoming orchestra winter concert on December 18th at 7 PM at the Silver Lining Arts Center, promising another evening of beautiful holiday music.
