Branchville High School celebrates all region volleyball and football players at annual awards ceremony

The December 2024 OCSD Board Meeting held in Orangeburg, South Carolina, commenced with a celebration of student athletes from various local schools. The meeting highlighted the achievements of these young individuals in both football and volleyball, recognizing their hard work and dedication.

The evening began with a call for audience members to allow parents of recognized students to enter the room, ensuring everyone could witness their child's accomplishments. The first group honored was the all-region football players from Bethune Bowman Middle School, followed by the all-region volleyball players from Branchville High School. Notably, Anewen Berry was acknowledged as the All State Region Player of the Year, and the Branchville volleyball team was celebrated for being the Lower State Volleyball champions and state runner-up.

Subsequent recognitions included all-region football players from Branchville High School, Edisto High School, and HKT, with several players receiving individual accolades such as Player of the Year and various position awards. The meeting also recognized athletes from Lake Marion High School, North Middle High School, and OW High School, with applause from the audience for each group.

In addition to athletic achievements, the meeting concluded with a tribute to talented students who won the district's holiday card competition. Their artwork was featured on holiday cards sent to families and community partners, showcasing their creativity and contributing to the festive spirit.
