Petoskey Northmen football team celebrates historic 11-1 season with mayor's recognition

The Petoskey City Council convened on January 1, 2025, to recognize the achievements of the 2024 Petoskey Northmen football team during a celebratory meeting. The session began with Mayor John Murphy presenting a proclamation honoring the team for completing their first undefeated regular season in 50 years, finishing with an impressive overall record of 11 wins and 1 loss.

The proclamation highlighted the team's record-setting performance, including the most points scored in a season and a total of 5,156 yards gained. Key players were acknowledged for their contributions, including senior quarterback Corbin Solitis, who set a school record with 1,949 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns. The defensive squad also received commendations, with several players earning all-region honors.

Coach Jim Webb was recognized as the Division 3 Region 1 Coach of the Year for his leadership, guiding the team to a regional championship appearance and securing the second district title in the school's history. Following the proclamation, Coach Webb introduced his coaching staff and players, who shared their positions and school years, fostering a sense of community and pride.
