Erosion issues at Maplewood are prompting urgent action from Cheshire County officials. During the recent Commissioner’s meeting, discussions centered on two critical projects aimed at addressing severe erosion threatening the property and infrastructure.

The first project involves significant erosion along a bank that is encroaching onto a driveway, raising concerns about potential undermining. The second project focuses on a roof drain that causes erosion during heavy rains. To combat these issues, officials plan to install a square pipe connected to the roof drain, which will lead to a catch basin, effectively managing water runoff and preventing further erosion.

The estimated cost for the first project is $12,800, while the second project is projected at $9,200, totaling $22,000. Due to the impending December 31st deadline, officials are seeking to waive the usual bidding process to expedite the work. Commissioner Wazbear and Commissioner England both voiced their support, approving the motion to move forward with the projects.
