The proposal could benefit approximately 26 childcare providers in Amarillo, with an estimated cost to the city of only $28,000. Gallup argued that this investment would lead to better services for families and a more stable local workforce. "More working parents means a stronger economy, more job creation, and greater demand for city services," she explained.

Council members expressed interest in the proposal, with questions about its potential impact and the experiences of other local jurisdictions. Gallup noted that similar measures have been enacted in nearby areas, including Canyon, which has implemented a full 100% tax exemption.
