Cooper City is making strides in community engagement with two standout initiatives highlighted at the recent City Commission meeting on January 28, 2025.
First up, the city is revitalizing its "free little libraries," which allow residents to exchange books freely. Originally launched a few years ago, these libraries have seen significant use from both children and adults. Due to wear and tear, the city is replacing two of these libraries, a project supported by the Education Advisory Board. This initiative not only promotes literacy but also fosters a sense of community among residents.
In addition, the city is proud to announce the continuation of its Cooper City Ambassador Program, now in its third year. This program targets students in grades nine through eleven, providing them with essential skills such as interview techniques and resume writing. Participants undergo workshops and have the opportunity to interview for the title of Cooper City Ambassador, with the winner receiving a $500 scholarship and the runner-up awarded $250. The program aims to prepare students for future educational and career opportunities, with the next winner to be announced at the upcoming Founders Day event.
These initiatives reflect Cooper City's commitment to enhancing community involvement and supporting the development of its youth, ensuring a brighter future for all residents.
