Red Clay School District to Host Delaware's First Girls State Wrestling Tournament in February

The Red Clay Consolidated School District is gearing up for an exciting year, highlighted by the announcement of the 2nd Annual Health and Wellness Fair, set for May 3rd. Head nurse Mandy Pennington successfully secured funding for the event, which aims to expand its reach and may include participation from the Brandywine School District. The fair, well-received in its inaugural year, will focus on promoting health and wellness within the community.

In addition to the fair, the district is also preparing for a significant milestone in sports. On February 2nd, Red Clay will host the first-ever girls state wrestling tournament at A.I. DuPont High School. This event is part of a growing trend, as girls wrestling is recognized as the fastest-growing sport in the nation. The tournament will feature high school girls from 9 AM to 12 PM, along with middle school participants, marking a historic moment for female student-athletes in Delaware.

The district is actively seeking new board members for the Red Clay Education Foundation and recently participated in a successful Giving Tuesday initiative. A golf tournament is also on the calendar for June 16th, with more details to follow.
