During a recent government meeting, former band members shared their cherished memories and the profound impact the band had on their lives.
Clarence Sermons, a former member, described his time in the band as "the pinnacle" of his college years, highlighting memorable performances such as the Super Bowl halftime show with Prince and the inauguration parade for President Obama. "Anytime we get the opportunity to have the number one band on the planet here in Riviera Beach is an honor," he said, expressing his eagerness to see the band perform again.
John Johnson, another alumni, reminisced about his experiences, including performing at the Gator Growl with Bill Cosby in 1984. He noted the excitement of bringing the Marching 100 back to Riviera Beach, stating, "I just can't wait."
Walter Stevens emphasized the lasting legacy of the band, recalling how it inspired him as a child. "Watching the halftime performances... it’d be great for the kids in Riviera Beach to experience that same feeling," he said, underscoring the band's role in fostering leadership and community spirit.
