Community celebrates Tudor House Christmas Open House with over 1000 visitors and livestock

The City Council of New Franklin celebrated a successful holiday season during their recent meeting, highlighting community engagement and upcoming projects. Mayor expressed gratitude for the Tudor House Christmas Open House, which attracted over 1,000 visitors and featured performances from local schools, along with a camel and a mule. Special thanks were given to volunteers, including Judy Williams and Katie Smith, for their organizing efforts.

The meeting also recognized the police department's fundraising success, raising $35,100 through the Burgers and Badges event, and their involvement in the "Shop with the Cops" initiative, where local children enjoyed a fun day out and received $150 each to shop for their families. Additionally, the council acknowledged the generosity of citizens who contributed over $3,000 in gift cards for eight families in need this holiday season.

On the infrastructure front, the mayor reported positive progress on the water project, noting compliance with federal EPA requirements and the upcoming bidding process. Plans for a new $4 million visitor center are also underway, promising no cost to residents.

Looking ahead, a public hearing regarding zoning recommendations for the Tudor House is scheduled for January 2 at 6 PM. The meeting concluded with the announcement of the winners of the holiday lights competition, with certificates to be awarded to the top displays.
