The City Council of El Segundo celebrated the 60th Annual Holiday Parade on December 19, 2024, highlighting community spirit and local traditions. This year's parade theme, "Candy Cane Lane," was inspired by the beloved local tradition and the recent film of the same name, written by Kelly Younger, son of local resident Jim Younger. The film, which showcases various El Segundo landmarks, premiered on Amazon Prime on December 14, adding a festive touch to the holiday season.

During the parade, local leaders and organizations took center stage, including the El Segundo In Line Hockey Association, which has been a staple in the community for over 25 years. The association offers exciting hockey experiences for youth aged 4 to 17, promoting sportsmanship and skill development through its winter and summer leagues.

Daima Wheaton, a member of the El Segundo Unified School District Board of Education, also participated in the festivities, expressing gratitude for the supportive community and the joy of celebrating together. Her presence, along with her family, underscored the importance of community involvement in local events.

Newcomers to the parade included Tully's Training, a dog training service dedicated to fostering strong bonds between pets and their owners. Their participation highlighted the growing interest in pet care and training within the community.

Additionally, the Mercy Mission Bear Hospital was recognized for its compassionate work in providing teddy bears and resources to ill and homeless children, emphasizing the spirit of giving during the holiday season.
