Carmel honors Sky Simpson with street renaming after World Powerlifting Championship success

During the Carmel City Council meeting on December 16, 2024, a significant highlight was the recognition of local athlete Sky Simpson for his outstanding achievements in powerlifting. Recently competing at the International Powerlifting Federation's World Open and Quit Powerlifting Championship in Iceland, Sky showcased remarkable talent, earning gold medals in two lifts, a silver in another, and securing the overall gold in his division.

The council welcomed Sky, his father Steve, and his coach Kyle Moran, a Carmel resident and owner of Moran Academy. Mayor Jim Brainard praised Kyle's dedication and expertise, which were instrumental in Sky's success. The mayor emphasized the importance of community support, noting that Sky's achievements reflect the spirit of inclusion within Carmel and Carmel Clay Schools.
