Theresa Salvador, a local resident, raised the issue of traffic flow, questioning how patrons of the new restaurant would navigate the area, especially those needing to turn right back into town. She emphasized the potential for increased congestion in the bus area, suggesting that a roundabout could provide a more efficient solution.

Deborah Burley, another resident, echoed these sentiments, recalling the loss of previous access routes and the current challenges faced by families and delivery vehicles in the area. She proposed relocating the restaurant's entrance to better accommodate traffic and reduce the burden on Dolores Way, which is already heavily trafficked due to a nearby community school.

Nikki Delson, chair of Age-Friendly Carbondale, pointed out that a previous traffic study identified Dolores Way as a high-risk area for accidents, particularly during peak hours. She urged the inclusion of a roundabout in the town's planning, referencing a 2013 access control plan that initially proposed such a solution but was never implemented.

The meeting also saw Patrick Hunter share his frustrations with the current traffic situation, noting that the intersection has become increasingly congested over the years. He recalled a past proposal for a traffic light that was ultimately dismissed, further complicating the issue.

The town's planning staff acknowledged the community's concerns, noting that while the intersection's challenges are recognized, solutions depend on collaboration with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the town's ongoing design efforts for a roundabout at a nearby intersection.
