In a recent government meeting, Loveland City Council unanimously approved the transfer of the Denisi property to the Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), a decision that aims to enhance community development initiatives. The motion passed with a vote of seven to zero, reflecting strong support among council members.
Kent Blair, a resident of Loveland, spoke in favor of the legislation, highlighting the significant role that CICs play in facilitating community projects that municipalities may find challenging to undertake. Established under Ohio Revised Code 1724, CICs are designed to empower cities to create 501(c)(3) organizations that can address local needs effectively.
Blair pointed to past successes, such as the Heights Improvement Grants, which utilized CIC funding to assist residents in home improvements. He emphasized that the transfer of the Denisi property would provide the CIC with a vital income stream, essential for its operations and future projects. He suggested potential initiatives, including funding for retrofitting outdoor lighting to comply with new ordinances and assisting residents with the removal of aging trees.
Blair also urged the council to consider transferring the Chestnut Street property to the CIC in the future, reinforcing the idea that such actions could significantly benefit the Loveland community. The council's decision marks a proactive step towards leveraging the CIC's capabilities for local development and support.
