Weigel highlighted that a significant portion of the increase is attributed to rising medical premiums and the need to restore previously removed salary funds. Additionally, he outlined the costs associated with providing legal representation and evaluations for individuals facing civil commitment due to severe mental illness.

The meeting marks the beginning of a series of budget presentations that will continue over the coming months, as officials work to ensure that taxpayer resources are allocated effectively to meet the county's responsibilities.
