During a recent government meeting, city officials provided an extensive overview of ongoing development projects in Oxnard, highlighting significant growth and a focus on affordable housing amid a housing crisis. The presentation detailed approximately 1,631 residential units currently under construction, with 43% designated as affordable.
Key residential projects include the North Shore at Mandalay Bay, which features 183 single-family homes and 109 condominiums, and the Edding Road Apartments, which will offer 57 affordable units for farmworkers and veterans. Other notable developments include the Lockwood Senior Apartments, which will provide 341 units for seniors, and the Encanto project, comprising 27 single-family homes with seven affordable units.
In addition to residential projects, the city is also seeing mixed-use developments, such as the Navigation Center, which will include a permanent homeless shelter and 156 supportive housing units. The Central Terrace project has recently been completed, adding 88 affordable units to the downtown area.
Commercial developments are also on the rise, with 270,000 square feet of commercial space under construction. This includes a new True Hotel by Hilton and several Starbucks locations, one of which is a conversion of an existing Wendy's. The Landing area is set to feature multiple restaurants and retail spaces, including a Shake Shack and a multi-tenant building with a Starbucks and ice cream shop.
Industrial projects are also underway, with 2.3 million square feet of industrial space being developed, including the 101 Logistics Center and a vehicle storage facility at the port.
