A local dog trainer is seeking to establish a dedicated training space in Walton County, aiming to enhance services for clients with disabilities. With eight years of experience, including work with Comprehensive Pet Therapy in Atlanta, the trainer plans to construct a non-permanent building on their two-acre property.
The proposed 16 by 50-foot cabin shed will serve as an office and training area, providing a safe and enclosed environment for clients and their dogs. The trainer emphasized the need for a distraction-free space, as many clients have autism and other disabilities, making public settings challenging for training sessions.
In addition to office space, the trainer intends to include a small half bath, which may require a new septic tank due to limitations with the existing system. The operation will be small-scale, with only one client at a time, ensuring minimal traffic and noise. The trainer reassured that there will be no outdoor kennels or excessive barking, as dogs will be kept in a household setting.
This initiative not only aims to improve training conditions but also seeks to provide a supportive environment for clients, allowing them to learn household manners and skills without intruding on the trainer's home life. The proposal highlights a commitment to community service and the well-being of both clients and their pets.
