During a recent village board meeting in Clarendon Hills, the community celebrated the achievements of two local Little League softball teams that captured state championships in 2024. The Clarendon Hills Little League eleven and under all-star softball team was recognized for winning the Illinois Little League state championship on July 21, 2024. The team, coached by Ricka Airway and Mike Nisgoda, was commended for their talent and sportsmanship, with each player introduced by Coach Mike during the ceremony.
The village president and board of trustees presented a proclamation honoring the eleven and under team, expressing pride in their accomplishment and wishing them success in future endeavors. The players, including Ashley Lacrosse, Reese Panio, and Myra Shaikh, were acknowledged for representing the community at a state level.
Additionally, the twelve and under all-star softball team was celebrated for their impressive victory on July 10, 2024, where they defeated the Brookfield Little League with a score of 6-1. This marked the second consecutive year that many of these players achieved a state championship. Coaches Michelle Spielse, Rob Gakko, and Jason Havens led the team, which included players like Emmy Campos and Grayson Contreras. The village board also recognized their efforts and contributions to the community.
In a further highlight of the meeting, the village expressed gratitude to State Representative Lattice Douglas for securing a $136,000 grant from the Illinois state capital budget for the replacement of the HVAC system at the village hall. This upgrade is expected to enhance efficiency and comfort for staff and visitors alike.
