During a recent government meeting, commendations were awarded to several officers of the Evergreen Park Police Department for their exemplary service in two significant incidents.

Lieutenant Zimmer and Officer Vossenhouse were recognized for their actions on July 30, when they conducted a traffic stop that led to the recovery of a loaded nine-millimeter handgun. The firearm, which had been reported stolen from Hickory Hills, was linked to a juvenile passenger in the vehicle, who was subsequently detained and handed over to Hickory Hills police for further investigation.

Additionally, a commendation was given to Officer Hansen, Officer Hartmande, Officer Ortiz, Officer Radke, Officer Troglia, Officer Morris, Lieutenant Zimmer, Detective Brachowski, and Captain Hart for their swift response to a flock alert regarding a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, the officers pursued the fleeing occupants of the car, successfully apprehending them. A search of the vehicle revealed two additional firearms. All three suspects, who had prior arrests for weapons offenses and auto theft, now face multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.

The meeting highlighted the effectiveness of the Evergreen Park Police Department and the role of advanced technology in enhancing public safety. As schools prepare to open this week, officials emphasized the importance of community vigilance and the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to maintain safety in the village.
