Enrollment figures across local educational institutions are on the rise, according to recent discussions at a government meeting. The academy anticipates 1,100 full-time enrollments, contributing to a total of 2,300 students. Similarly, Technical College High School (TCHS) is projected to grow from 2,553 students in the 2023-2024 school year to 2,776 students in the current year, with notable increases in sports, medicine, and automotive service programs.
The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) Learning Center, which serves 176 students from 29 school districts, is nearing the completion of its building renovations. Additionally, the Child and Career Development Center (CCDC) is set to serve 350 students from 34 school districts for the 2023-2024 school year. However, the preschool special education program is expected to see a decrease in enrollment from 3,501 students to 2,433 for fall 2024, although historical trends indicate that enrollment typically rises throughout the year. In contrast, Head Start enrollment is projected to increase from 713 to 858 students.
In other business, the board approved a revised agreement with the West Chester School District Board of Education and the West Chester Service Support Professionals, effective from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2029. This agreement now includes language for part-time employees and has removed a previously included vacation request approval memorandum of understanding (MoU) as discussions continue on its revision. Additionally, a standalone MoU revising medical and prescription drug insurance language has been incorporated into the revised contract.
The next CCIU board of directors meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Technical College High School brand campus in Downingtown.
