In a dramatic early morning response, local emergency services successfully managed a structure fire at Westmont Manor, located at 512 East Ogden, on Tuesday. The incident began with an activated fire alarm at approximately 4:34 AM, prompting immediate dispatch of both police and fire departments from the AC DC dispatch center.

Initial reports indicated a fire on the second floor, confirmed by a police officer who arrived first on the scene. The situation escalated quickly, leading to an upgrade from a fire alarm response to a full structure fire response, which mobilized 35 personnel from surrounding communities.

At the time of the fire, only four staff members were present in the building. A nurse in unit 202 noticed smoke emanating from the air conditioning unit and promptly alerted her supervisor, who called 911. Despite the police officer's attempts to enter the smoke-filled second floor, he was forced back due to the thick smoke.

Firefighters, equipped with air packs, entered the building to conduct rescues while coordinating with police officers stationed outside to assist with evacuating victims. Reports indicated a total of eight individuals suffering from smoke inhalation, prompting the request for additional ambulances to handle the influx of patients.
